Our Mission

Artz for the Harp is a nonprofit public benefit organization serving students throughout Georgia and the southeast.  To date we have served over 5600 students. Our mission is to provide harps and other musical instruments for lessons and arts  enrichment and arts therapy programs to students of all ages, who need us most, to foster a positive creative outlet of artistic expression, to students through contemporary music experiences, while strengthening communities.

Our Vision:

At Artz for the Harp (AFTH), we hold a firm belief that music education is an integral component in nurturing the holistic development of every child. We are dedicated to ensuring that all children, regardless of their circumstances, have the opportunity to access the emotional, social, physical, and intellectual benefits that music can offer. Furthermore, we recognize the healing power of music and its potential as a constructive channel for self-expression through the arts. It also plays a pivotal role in fostering personal growth in areas such as self-esteem, responsibility, and discipline.

To bring these principles to life, we offer AFTH arts enrichment classes to youth aged 4 to 17 who have limited access or exposure to harp group enrichment. Our outreach extends to Title I schools, community centers, healthcare facilities, and faith-based organizations. Additionally, we are committed to serving seniors aged 55 and above, providing our services at senior centers, retirement communities, and assisted living facilities. Through these initiatives, we aim to make music and the arts accessible to individuals of all ages, enriching their lives and promoting personal development.

Our Guiding Principles:

1. We are dedicated to offering a strong musical foundation to individuals of all ages, regardless of their prior music training.

2. Our instructional approach tailors individual and group harp and music lessons to align with each student's current developmental stage and skill level.

3. We are committed to providing music enrichment programs that align with the Georgia Standards of Excellence, benefiting communities throughout Georgia.

4. We actively cultivate and encourage creativity, providing avenues for artistic self-expression to flourish.

5. We seek to introduce students to distinctive career pathways through our music education programs.

6. Creating a secure and positive learning environment is paramount in our mission to support the growth and development of all Artz for the Harp students.

Services & Needs

To extend our reach to those who require our services the most, we offer various accessible options, including subsidized rates, sliding scale pricing, and scholarships. Our commitment goes beyond mere instruction; we provide instruments for group learning and offer both on-site and off-site lessons to overcome transportation challenges. Our programs are flexible, offering both virtual and in-person options.

As our programs continue to expand and grow, we are now working diligently to purchase and retrofit a box truck into a mobile music bus. This mobile music bus will enable us to provide on-site programming throughout Georgia and the Southeast, reaching communities far and wide with the power of music education and engagement.

Thanks to the support of our amazing sponsors and donors, we have been  able to offer free AFTH Exposure Workshops to libraries, community centers, YMCA's, Boys & Girls Clubs of Georgia, and Title I Schools. These partnerships allow us to reach a wide array of students of all ages throughout Georgia and the Southeast.

Beyond our work with the youth and seniors, AFTH works with young adults from six Georgia Universities/ Colleges to provide paid and credit based internships for fall/spring/summer.  Selected interns have  years of experience in music or are music education, music therapy or music performance majors or minors.  We also work with students in other fields that would benefit from working with a nonprofit organization.

If you are interested in working with or volunteering with an amazing nonprofit organization, enriching live one string at a time , while having fun doing it, contact us today.  We are always in need of volunteers to assist with recitals, concerts, outreach and more.
