Founded in 2002, Furkids is an Atlanta-area nonprofit organization that operates the largest cage-free, no-kill cat shelter in the Southeast, along with Sadie’s Place, a no-kill shelter for dogs. The Furkids mission is to rescue homeless animals and provide them with the best medical care and nurturing environment, while working to find them a forever home. Furkids heals the whole animal, physically and emotionally, restoring its health and spirit. We also operate the Furkids Interstate TransFUR Program, an interstate transport program that has saved over 2,000 animals since March, 2018. During the past 18 years, Furkids has rescued, vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and placed more than 35,000 animals into loving homes.

The unique nine-acre Furkids headquarters in Cumming is steeped in nature. It serves the community with programs that help people connect with animals in a beautiful environment. It is so much more than just an animal shelter! The property is open to visitors who want to enjoy the natural beauty of woodlands, gardens, and water features.
